Is it a good idea for my child to read the same story again? YES!
One very effective strategy for young readers is to do
'repeated reading' of a story that they can read. Seeing words again, knowing a story well, and being able to read with ease are valuable ways to support developing readers. So, go ahead, and have them read that story over and over again.
They can read in a different place,
read to a different person,
read in a different voice.
Memory is also a big factor in learning from books. Kids need repetition to learn and remember.
It's worthwhile, and it's a teaching strategy that we use all the time.
As well, you might wonder why kids
like having the same storybook read aloud to them?
"Your child is showing they enjoy this story, but also that they are still learning from the pictures, words, and the interactions you have as you read this book together."
