A Day With Jacquie Pearce

Students at Kent Elementary School spent the day with BC author Jacquie Pearce yesterday and learned about her work as an author. She highlighted her interest, her research, and the eventual publication of her short historical fiction book about the 1948 flood of the Fraser River onto the Agassiz and area landscape. Her book Flood Warning tells the tale of how the people of the Fraser Valley and their cattle survived. Have you read it yet?

A handful of students shared their own family connection with the flood with comments about the stories that their grandparents have told them. Local history, family history, telling stories and writing stories are an important part of our literacy program at Kent School. Does your child have a journal or notebook for writing?

A big thank you to our PAC for supporting this big event.
